Very cool video - I've watched it a few times and will be watching it again. I love this plugin and have barely scratched the surface of using it. All of the Kazrog plugins I have are utterly amazing. Subtle gains, adding up to huge gains. You are really going over it here, and I think the next time I watch this I'll have a sample project open and do all the things you are doing. I find the lyrics of the song you are mixing very interesting, too! "Don't point your energy at some cause with no attending sympathy". Man, that's the kind of self consideration that anybody wanting others to change their conduct needs to possess... Kind of refreshing to hear that conscientious approach to presenting the 'conviction' generally present in reggae music. Cool. If I understand the lyrics correctly, my complements to the song writer! Somebody needed to write this song. "Don't take out your guilty conscience on me." Cuz there's a whoooole lot of that going on in the world.

Good video and explanation about the Helios Type 69. My question may be very obvious but, I am delving deeper into the world of mixing and I would like to know the reason why you have the Helios after other plugins. I understand that the bx console goes first because it precisely simulates a console in the chain but, shouldn't the Helios also go as the first or second plugin because it works as a preamplifier and then add compression?

UA has become such a joke in my personal opinion. They didn't even manage to make the 1176 and LA2A usable in series or parallel, which would have made the plugin at least kind of interesting. Also they didn't improve on the Modeling, still the same as the 10 year old 610 plugin. Don't even get me started on that whole LUNa thing. Thanks Mike though always happy to see you work!

Im seeing a lot of people saying "Why did they even make this?" But I dig it. I even have a hardware 6176 and Id still enjoy this plugin. I get it - yet another 1176... Who needs that. No one. But a classic channel strip with a familiar interface, awesome GUI, added features over the hardware unit and switchable compressor options *within* the plugin, saturation, EQ, mix control for parallel compression, low tilt to control what triggers the threshold, what's not to like? I DO wish they would make all their compressor options switchable within the plugin. That would be cool

Softube has this "Flat Sterel sound to it" I dont like it, currently Im using, Nebula and Acustica Audio with Reasons SSL Mixer for Pre Mastering, Add Vocals, Level Out, run that through my outboard Gear, then finish up with some Aucstica Audio Polish (Lime / Neve) then Im done, I dont think Im swapping that out for this.......

this tool gives you a starting point. for less experienced people it can be a form of learning mastering.

Interesting that Softube put the Weiss MP EQ is on a master chain as that one is minimum phase. The Weiss EQ1 does linear phase and dynamic. I spotted the EQ1 on some other chains.

As someone who has religiously used ozone since the days of Ozone 3, this is the ozone killer. I already unsubscribed from the izotope music production suite and subscribed to Flow, and it's cheaper that the izotope subscription as well. AND I get monthly points. Good riddance, izotope, you shall not be missed.

I'd love to see a shoot out between this, IK Multimedia's T-Racks Mastering Suite, IK's Lurrsen Mastering Console, Izotope, a mastering plugin chain (maybe using Studio One's mastering console and a hardware setup. That would be really neat and provoke a lot of discussion. 😎

A preset chain which doesn't involve any signal analysing (except input level gain) can't do a proper mastering tbh. Ozone 11 on the other hand is a much better automatic mastering tool.

You have such an underrated channel. This compression technique alone here is amazing. You keep it basic but the results are astronomical. Ive been watching your playlist of bootcamp videos for years. Please dont ever delete them. Thank you for these real tips. This video and the creating clarity one improved my mixing tenfold after many years even.
